Warung Spang Makandra

Spicey lunch anyone?

A little bit hidden in ‘De Pijp’ area with its incredible amount of little shops, cafés & restaurants there’s Warung Spang Makandra. This is a good place for a well-deserved Surinamese/Javanese lunch. Basic tasty dishes…if you’re a fan of soup try the saoto soup with rice, chicken & taugé’ ( bean sprouts ). This is comfort food at its best! The multicultural customers make this place a good example of the racial diversity of Amsterdam

Useless fact:
De Pijp is pronounced Da Pipe- see how easy Dutch is if u pronounce that ij as a y? Like Dick van Dyke’s last name would be spelled van Dijk.
